Reef Points are DONE!

I wanted to be able to shorten sail. On desert lakes the wind can come up out of nowhere. The reef points will also let me learn to sail better and feel safer with less square footage aloft.

It was an enormous job.

The mast rake may still be off a little. I can fix that without much problem.

The cloth had to be cut with the direction of the dacron weave the same as the sail - it wasn't so bad....just time consuming.

Reinforcement patches. Cut in the shape of a diamond there are two patches for every reef point. I used a rotary cutter and pad to do the cutting.

There is nothing quite like putting holes in a perfectly good sail to make you sick and nervous.

The New Tiller
Messy messy lay up. I used mahogany and maple.

This is going to be the new sail cover! I know it is awful and gaudy but i just love it. I picked this fabric up for a dollar a yard! I know! Only I would pay a dollar a yard for it! Really though, it is very heavy duty and will last a long time.

The handle - turned out very nice!

I was very pleased with the end product - very shapely and pretty.
